Ravens easily handle Colts, Shanahan gambles future of the franchise and loses

Playoff football is meant to be tough but the second night of the playoffs was just tough to watch as RGIII was put through the grinder against Seattle. Carrying an injury from the get go Griffin was clearly hurt early on after helping his side to a commanding first quarter lead. The Skins coaching staff choked when it came to making the decision to take their star QB out and as RGIII’s body slowly failed him the Skins, and their season, went with him.

Terrible Texans make it, Woeful Webb goes home

The first night of the playoffs went according to plan with both home teams getting wins to see them through to the next round. However, as ever with the NFL, it wasn’t anywhere near as straightforward as it promised to be. The Texans struggled their way to a spectacularly unimpressive win over the Bengals and the Patriots will no doubt eagerly awaiting their showdown next week. Green Bay did an efficient job knocking off Minnesota but also got a look at the Read Option offence in doing so as Joe Webb came in at QB in place of Christian Ponder for the Vikings. That sets them up nicely for next weeks trip to Candlestick Park to meet the 49ers in what looks likely to be an epic playoff showdown.

Wildcard Weekend

Just like starting over

Wildcard weekend is here and no matter what team you are supporting your favourite bunch of footballers are done. It’s over. End of story. Because regardless of whether you went 14-2 or 3-13 it doesn’t matter anymore once January rolls around. It’s stating the obvious, right? Sure it is but it’s such a cliche that it sometimes gets overlooked or taken for granted.
